A quick & helpful guideline for photographers to help them choose models and how to find them.

You know when you were a kid (speaking from being a 25 year old, I might add), they made all those awesome movies they just don't seem to make anymore. The Goonies. Back to the Future. Labyrinth. Batteries Not Included. Honey I Shrunk the Kids. You know the ones.
Well I wish they'd start making some more like that again. Just plain old adventure where anything can happen, in a fun, adventurous way. Sure, the main protaganists of these kinds of films always seem to be kids - which label them as "kids films". But maybe it's just that adults have to make everything rational and logical and would never allow themselves to get into the situations that adventures would happen. I could go on, but I wont. As for the pic well, I figured whilst I DO love speed stuff, sometimes you just gotta spend a little longer on a pic. In thise case, I went with my "7 steps" approach that I recently developed and i'm gonna give it a few test runs before I start calling it a technique. The idea behind it all being that some kid has some awesome gadget-filled garage, and he kinda fancies the girl next door. So he makes this box to do all this cool, showey-off stuff. Only he accidently makes something he didn't mean to, and well i dunno ... it ... turns the house into a rocket ship or something, you know the drill. It didnt come out quite as I originally pictured (congrats to anyone who can achieve that!). The car was meant to be more integrated, like it's a permanent fixture, and there was gonna be more debris around. But as it went on, I kinda liked how it looked so I stuck with it. Anyway, thanks for looking, and all comments welcome and appreciated! Thanks for the recent support also! About 5-6 hours, Photoshop. Comments
I'm seventeen, eighteen in a few months. I have a twenty-two year old sibling who at times yells at me for being uneducated in the best of film.
I can only say that it was her responsibility to show me these films and it's her fault I've been emotionally stunted. So far it's worked out pretty well. She buys me some really good movies now... -- "Stupidity always brings out the asshole in me..." ~Mitnick I pretty much instantly got the feeling you were trying to convey when I saw this piece. I like the way a story is being told, and there's enough being told that you have a vague idea of what's going on, but not so much that there's no mystery involved. It leaves me wanting to know what's not being told. What are they meeting about? What is that weird glowing box thing?
Everything you mentioned in your in your description is conveyed here. Wonderful job, sir. Now what's this "7-step" business you're talking about? -- Love and Peace Gallery I love this picture and what it stands for
And I completely agree.... too many companies are just making films where if they're a genre, it's an extremely specific one. And if it's a meld between that genre and reality, it's always about some "ordinary kid" who becomes "unordinary". I mean, I've seen some films that are more recent that could fit into the movies mentioned, but most of them are so full of childishly stupid humor that it would be an insult to group them there. I don't understand why the movie industry seems to think they have to throw in a bunch of potty humor to keep kids interested :/ It really kills a lot of movies that had the potential to be good. -- "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is often dressed in overalls and looks like work" ~ Thomas Edison I was just looking at some of the other stuff you'd done. I'm so glad your painting up the one last chance now. Although there is a tone different to the pieces, some of the grit seems to go when they get coloured up, its not true of all of course. Its been a while since i used painter [are you still using it?] so i'm wondering if a watercolour layer could be added, just to add a blots to it or odd scratches. Anyway, it was Provocative looking through your stuff again. I do enjoy the work you produce.
Night. -- Mr Carl. Awesome. I love the picture and the meaning behind it. I grew up with all those movies, too. They just don't make fun movies like that anymore. Do you remember the one where the kids built a spaceship in a junkyard? This pic reminds me a little of that movie.
-- Mr. President, it is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. --Patrick Henry |
