Tsk. Another FFVII Fanart. Nah.

As with my previous pic [link] , I'm focusing on learning a skill, learning how to use software, use a program, and get used to colour and lighting and getting comfortable with a digital device. It's actually quite a few new things for me to get my head around, and i dont want/need the hassle of having to come up with designs for characters as well! My OLC project, well, once i start doing digital pictures for that, i want to be in control, so i can make it look just how i want it to. I dont want to be worried about what buttons do what when im doing something like that!

And if im going to do fanart, i may as well do it on the subject im REALLY into. There is a hell of a lot of unexplored stuff in FFVII - try and look for one picture on deviantart of midgar, and from little there is, i cant find any picture that isnt of the opening screen - a wallpaper.

But anyway, thats my point i guess. Theres so much that can be done, im just trying to push my own boundaries of comfort a little to try and at least start to push them. My last picture - a picture of tifa - so what. Its a picture. of tifa. Just, her face. Big wow who cares. There are dozens of pictures like that that have been done. And will continue to be done.

This picture, i was actually going to leave alone, and the lineart ([link]) has been sat scanned in since at least the beginning of February. It was only after showing it to my partner !Tifasjk that she suggested i finish it, as she really liked it! and who am i to argue with that! (she's a big cloud  tifa fan! and shes made a bit of one of me ...). So i devote the picture to her! Because, i never even liked Tifa before i was with her, she made me see her in a different light, and, i wouldnt have coloured the picture at all without her!

The picture is what it says on the tin! Id have liked the hands to have come out a bit clearer, but i would have had to light them from some unrealistic/uncovincing source, and itd compromised the contrast if id make a more generic lighting source. In the lineart, a subtle symbol i made was a BIT more obvious - it would be interesting to see if people picked up on it, but well, i probably wouldnt have! I tried to make a subtle heart shape out of the arms and the shoulders (im a big softie really!)

I did intend from the start, to put more detail into the background. But, id just hadddd enouggghhh of the picture by that point! There are certain elements in general im not happy with (i wont point them out! i find that when a fault is pointed out, thats all you can see. So ill just hope theyre ignored or not focused on too much!)

Uhm, i could probably waffle for ages, but i wont for any longer! Comments welcome and appreciated, and be gentle! Tis still all quite new to me!

*huggles* awww it's come out really well! (lol of course Clouds right side XD doh XD)

I think it looks really nice and polished up etc! but, I probably see that more then others as I saw the WIP's etc!, *huggles* it's really come out very very nice cutes awww, you lil tifa  Cloud fan bless you! and you never used to like Tifa at all!

I still really like how you do skin tones!, you always make them come out really nice and non-blended/HTK/everyone else, awww the subtle heart bless you! big softie cute!

I never knew you used photoshop and painter!, I dont understand how people use both =( other then photoshop for the graphic bits i.e boarders and so on, but then i'd probably try out both etc if photoshop wasn't so laggy on my compy with the tablet, I don't think the background needs anymore detail! I think it's really nice as it is, lots of detail in the background might have drawn people away from Tifa and cloud whereas like it is now (i.e perfect imo!) you can see it all as a whole and it's really very nice *huggles*

i love you!

it's hard to push out your boundaries, or it can be!, like me with background etc, I get super scared to do them because A - I don't exactly know what i'm doing as such but...thats to be expected when i've never done it before etc and B - I worry about perspective so much when i have to add more then one thing to the page, you seem to have really adjusted well to backgrounds since last summer, it's really inspiring! *huggles*, you always inspire me and many other people!

I love you always! *huggles* I need to go get readies now!

beautiful piece. i like the bright yellow light against the murky brown shadow, and the perspective - their feet and the strong shadow at the bottom right. great atmosphere and depth!
:iconroadless-i-travel:
really an amazing feel to this,
the colors and lighting really add somthing.
And I know whats its like to want to get a drawing
out of the way but I'd say you did well in finsihing
gracefully.
Definite fav.

I gotta admit, there is something hideously HTK about this piece (both lineart and colouring technique yada yada) at the moment o_o
I thought you didn't like that kinda stuff...*shrug*

Anyway, image >> unrefined but awesome. Can never grasp how to do backgrounds :/ They don't seem to want to be drawn by me so i pretty much admire every bloody person who can do one fairly decently.

Cloud's arm...distuirbs me a little. Especially the lower part where it seems like there's a long dent in his arm o_o;
Same time, the hair could have been done better, at the moment it's just this really odd shape. It's like looking at...really torn up yams. Though, the imagery probably doesn't work out for the usual sane person XD

Now I'm just going to sound even more hypocritical than I've just been. The ribbon on tifa's arm...I think it's the colour used, it sort of makes it look really out of place. Since Tifa in-show is actually really pale, the fact the moody lighting made her rather 'dark' skinned seemed to imply that the ribbon too should be a much darker shade. Instead it's fairly bright, and seems to hit this non existed lighting coming from the left hand side of the viewer of the image, when really her arm shows no such light.

Anyway, away with my hopeless time consuming blabber.

i'm aware of all the things you pointed out, and plenty of things more, but thanks anyway! itd be really bad if i was 100% happy with this piece. itd be really bad if anyone was 100% happy with a piece. i have a lot to learn and i intend to do just that!
:iconopticneuralinterface:
Thankyou dearest! I'm not totally happy with it! I'd still like it more texturey and ... it still looks a little cartooney for my tastes (as well as plenty of other things!), i'll sort all that out in time and hardwork!

as for photoshop, i'll give you some tips on it later, as its probably your scratch disk thats making it go laggy! (itll run slow if your hardrive is full!)

love you dear, speak soon! :cuddle:   dolmio for lunch again!
:iconopticneuralinterface:
thanks! not totally happy with it, cant work out exactly why! it'll come to me!

thanks again!
